Croatia: Adjustments to Fiscalization

Effective early July 2026, the Croatian authorities have announced a last-minute technical change to the requirements for submitting fiscalization-related documents.

Specifically, the change affects the digest algorithm used for signing messages and transaction data.

The hash algorithm that has been accepted to date SHA-1 must no longer be used. Instead, a stronger cryptographic algorithm is now required, such as SHA-256, SHA-384 or a comparable modern hash function.

RetailForce has previously signed transmissions using SHA-1. As a result, affected documents could no longer be successfully transmitted to the Croatian authorities after the change took effect.

To ensure continuous fiscal reporting in Croatia, RetailForce responded promptly and released a hotfix.

This update replaces the SHA-1 algorithm previously used with a modern hash algorithm that complies with the new requirements, namely SHA-256. This allows documents to be signed in compliance with regulations and submitted to the authorities.

For existing RetailForce customers, the change was implemented quickly to ensure continued compliance with legal requirements.
